Resumo

Using an integrated approach that combines the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) with an extended model incorporating elements from the Value–Belief–Norm (VBN) theory, this study examines the factors influencing sustainable consumption behavior among university students in Ho Chi Minh City. Based on a survey of 326 students from universities in Ho Chi Minh City, the research evaluates the determinants affecting students’ sustainable consumption behavior. The results indicate that six factors: knowledge, environmental concern, attitude, perceived behavioral control, subjective norms, and perceived personal effectiveness positively influence sustainable consumption behavior. Among these factors, subjective norms have the strongest impact. Based on these findings, the study suggests that it is necessary to enhance educational initiatives, strengthen positive attitudes, and promote beliefs that encourage sustainable consumption behavior among students in Ho Chi Minh City.
