Resumo

Proclivity apropos global warming and environmental devastation worldwide has been big issue. Environmental accounting has appeared as an intrinsic mechanism for adjudging the financial aftermath of environmental sustainability, principally in nascent economy like India. Rationale for this study rests in growing environmental challenges and crappy tie-in of ecological costs into corporate accounts. Howbeit statues, challenges outlive in successful execution of environmental accounting systems. The central premise of this study is to reconnoitre the theoretical underpinnings of environmental accounting in India, examining its challenges, opportunities and preventive measures. A cognitive strategy has been echoed, enveloping an in-depth literature study, legislation, and corporate green reports to decipher mainstream techniques. The study further delineates bottom issues frinstance unstandardized reporting guidelines, limited corporate fervor, and lacuna in compliance oversight. To accost these challenges, the paper insinuates robust regulatory passivity, reformed exposure tenets, and implementation of all-inclusive accepted accounting policies conducive to India's socio-economic environment. Thereby, with getting rampant of environmental accounting, its acceptance continues incoherent and tricky. Notwithstanding scientists and  politicians are sussing for environmental issues, corporate need receptive of that a resilient future postulates green accounting for them.  The analysis demonstrates that a methodical and oversight model, beyond corporate commitment and stakeholder rendezvous, is indispensable for harmonizing ecological themes into lamestream accounting approached in India.
