Global attention towards sustainable development has accelerated the consumption of renewable energies in recent decades. Measuring the share of renewable energy consumption in total energy consumption is essential to evaluate the importance of using renewable energy sources to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between GDP, CO2 emissions, electricity consumption, renewable energy consumption, and sustainable development at the national level in Africa. Our analysis is predicated on an econometric panel data study that was conducted using data from 24 African nations between 1990 and 2020. Long-term coefficients were measured using the Fully Modified Least Squares (FMOLS) and Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) approaches. Consuming renewable energy has a statistically significant positive impact on sustainable development in the African nations under study, based on the estimate of these coefficients.
