Air pollution poses a significant and growing threat to global human health, contributing to respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and oncological diseases. The food industry is a notable contributor to air pollutant emissions through agricultural practices, food processing, and transportation activities. This article reviews the multifaceted impacts of air pollution on human health and evaluates current mitigation strategies within the food industry. It highlights the importance of adopting cleaner technologies, sustainable agricultural methods, and promoting dietary shifts toward plant-based foods. Additionally, it underscores the need for targeted policies addressing social inequities in pollution exposure. Collaborative efforts among stakeholders are essential to minimize the environmental footprint of the food sector and protect public health.
