Abstract

Sustainable development is an issue that many countries around the world are concerned about, and Vietnam is no exception. Sustainable development in Vietnam has been included in the Socio-Economic Development Strategy by the Communist Party of Vietnam. In the process of economic development, transportation activities play a very important role, being the lifeblood of trade in transporting goods and people from one point to another. However, transportation activities also cause environmental pollution problems due to the large amount of CO2 emissions from this activity. To make some recommendations in economic management, the study focuses on understanding the level of pollution caused by transport activities in Vietnam from 2010 to now. The study uses the method of desk research, collecting and analyzing data from the Countryeconomy and the General Statistics Office on CO2 emissions. The study shows that the Government needs to promote businesses to switch to using means of transport using electric energy, renewable energy and synchronous development of infrastructure to exploit the advantages of transporting goods, passengers, large volumes, and long trips in order to save costs per transport unit and reduce emissions.
