Resumo

Industrial crosses, associated with the evaluation of zootechnical indicators, are essential tools to optimize the efficiency of modern goat farming. The present study evaluated the productive performance and carcass characteristics of goats resulting from Tricross crosses (Savannah x Huíla Native Ecotype x Boer) reared in a semi-intensive system at Fazenda Mumba, Cuvango, Angola. For this purpose, a field zootechnical trial was carried out, using as a sample 26 castrated males after weaning at 75 days and monitored until slaughter (at six months). Performance was evaluated by means of weaning weight (kg), live weight at slaughter (kg), average daily weight gain (ADG, g/day) and carcass yield (CR, %). The animals presented averages of 12.60 ± 1.75 kg at weaning, 24.87 ± 4.59 kg of live weight at slaughter (at six months), average daily gain of 108.57 g/day, carcass weight of 11.55 ± 2.37 kg and carcass yield of 46.27%. There was also a very strong positive correlation between live weight and carcass weight (r = 0.969; p < 0.05) and between age at slaughter and carcass weight (r = 0.933;  p < 0.05), which suggests the viability of the Tricross crossing system evaluated and confirms the potential of this genetic group as a promising strategy for obtaining early animals and optimizing meat production.
