Distal radial fractures in toy breed dogs represent a significant orthopedic challenge due to the limited bone diameter, reduced metaphyseal bone stock, and increased risk of delayed union or non-union. This report describes the surgical management of a distal radial epiphyseal fracture in a miniature dog using a locking plate fixation system following the principles of biological osteosynthesis. A 3-year-old miniature Pinscher weighing 1.9 kg was presented after polytrauma with functional impairment of the thoracic limb. Radiographic examination confirmed a distal radial epiphyseal fracture. Surgical stabilization was performed using a 2.5 mm locking plate system to achieve angular stability and preserve vascular supply. The patient demonstrated early functional recovery with progressive return to weight bearing and physiological gait during clinical follow-up. The findings support the use of locking plate systems as an effective method for stabilization of distal radial fractures in small breed dogs, providing mechanical stability and favorable biological conditions for bone healing.
