Protein is an essential macronutrient for human nutrition and is widely obtained through the consumption of meat from different animal species. In Brazil, there has been a significant increase in meat consumption over recent decades, although differences in production and consumption patterns are observed, particularly in the Northern region. This study aimed to analyze meat consumption patterns in the municipality of Ji-Paraná, Rondônia, considering the frequency of consumption of different animal species, the most commonly used preparation methods, and preferences for fish cuts. This is an observational and descriptive study conducted between February and May 2025, involving 99 adults, including consumers and market vendors. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, and the information was evaluated based on a scoring system related to weekly consumption frequency. The results indicated that chicken meat had the highest consumption frequency, followed by beef and pork, whereas fish was the least consumed. Regarding preparation methods, frying emerged as the predominant technique. Concerning fish cuts, roasted tambaqui ribs were the most appreciated by participants. It is concluded that the observed consumption pattern is strongly associated with economic and cultural factors, particularly the lower cost of chicken meat and the appreciation of traditional preparations. These findings contribute to a better understanding of local dietary habits and may support planning strategies in the production sector.
