non-native molluscs biodiversity, marine, freshwater & terrestrial species, Santa Catarina State/ SC, Central Southern BrazilResumo
Introduction: Biological invasions, from molluscs among others, have been recognized as one of the greatest threats to biodiversity in the world, and when non-native species invade, they can modify the structure of the community and the functioning of ecosystems, in addition to representing a serious socio-economic threat. Objective: New updated general review of the inventory of non-native (exotic & invasive) molluscs occurring in the brazilian southern State of Santa Catarina/ SC. Methodology: To review and update to the most new recent and complete general available Brazilian reference database regarding the topic (Machado et al. 2026), encompassing the knowledge and inclusion of the generated information from the State on the topic (systematic regional research). Results and conclusions: Confirmed regional incorporation/ registration of more other two (2) taxa/ species of marine non native Bivalvia molluscs, verified through the global platform "MolluscaBase", taxonomically included in 2 genera and families, non previously reported in the literature for the territorial space of the State. Thirty-three (33) species (17 terrestrial Gastropoda, 2 freshwater Gastropoda, 4 freshwater Bivalvia & 10 marine Bivalvia) had their occurrence recognized in the State; however, ten (10) other species (7 terrestrial Gastropoda, 2 freshwater Gastropoda & 1 marine Bivalvia) did not have it recognized (due to inconsistent information ?). Additional new reports and informations of general interest for the State are finally included.
