pest insects, neem, agriculture, plant extractsResumo
This systematic review aimed to explore recent applications of azadirachtin as a biopesticide against different pest insects, using different forms and methods of application. The results are presented in table and figure detailing the target pests evaluated, the efficacy of the treatments, and the extraction techniques employed. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology was adopted as the methodological framework. A bibliographic search was conducted in the Scopus and Periódicos Capes databases, identifying 216 scientific articles. After full-text screening, 115 articles were selected for analysis. Approximately 77% of these works used products based on commercial azadirachtin, while 23% investigated natural extracts or oils obtained through conventional methods (maceration, Soxhlet extraction, and infusion). These results demonstrate that new formulations can be explored, using more modern methods such as microwave-assisted extraction, ultrasound or supercritical fluid, and different sources of azadirachtin. Overall, the results demonstrate the broad efficacy of azadirachtin-based products in managing a wide range of agricultural pests.
