The sawn wood industry is strategic for the Brazilian economy and, given the high generation of waste in processing, the study of the geometry of the bandsaw blade can result in more standardized parts. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the geometry of the tooth of the bandsaw blade on the quality of sawn wood of Qualea sp., with emphasis on the variation in sawn wood, in a sawmill in the north of Mato Grosso. For this purpose, two tooth models were prepared on the bandsaw blade, with different tooth-forming angles and, consequently, different useful gullet areas. The first model consisted of a bandsaw blade conventionally used in sawmills in Mato Grosso, called the traditional model, while the second model was proposed seeking to increase the useful gullet area, aiming to work with higher cutting heights, called the proposed model. After analyzing the results, it was observed that the proposed model showed lower sawn wood variation when compared to the traditional model, with a more stable and uniform cut. Thus, the proposed band saw model provided less waste generation, higher yield in sawn wood and greater process efficiency.
