Resumo

Urethral prolapse is defined as a protrusion of the urethral mucosa, which extends beyond the end of the penis, being presented as a small reddish mass in the distal portion of the organ. This condition can affect dogs at any age, being rare, but more common in brachycephalic breeds. The objective of this report is to address the surgical procedure in an American Bully dog, affected by urethral prolapse, which was submitted, at first, to a more conservative technique with reduction of the prolapse and application of suture in a tobacco purse at the end of the penis, but that, after 45 days, there was a recurrence of the case, being necessary to use the technique of resection and anastomosis of the prolapsed mucosa, thus obtaining success in the treatment instituted, since it may be chronic and bleeding from the prolapsed mucosa.
