Resumo

Fasciolosis is a zoonotic parasitic disease that is transmitted to humans and causes economic losses in animals. The present study describes the prevalence of fasciolosis in the central steppe region of Algeria (Djelfa) based on epidemiological analyzes carried out in two slaughterhouses (Birine and Hassi Bahbah). It was carried out on 217 sheep, 75 goats and 8 cattle by post-mortem inspection carried out on the livers of animals slaughtered in the two establishments. This examination is preceded by the recovery of data relating to slaughtered animals for the study of risk factors. The results showed an overall liver inspection prevalence rate for F. hepatica was 0.33%. This infestation was observed during the winter season (9.09%) (Month of January) in a female (1%) of the age group > 2 years (1.07%). These results reflect the risk posed by fascioliasis to sheep. In addition, it poses a risk to public health due to the consumption of contaminated food and causes significant economic losses. This requires the implementation of a disease control and awareness program to avoid various accidents and significant economic losses.
