Abstract

O presente trabalho trata-se de uma revisão de literatura sobre o uso da terapia fotodinâmica no tratamento da peri-implantite. Foram utilizados artigos indexados nas plataformas: PUBMED, SCIELO, LILACS E GOOGLE SCHOLAR, entre os anos 1960 e 2019. Atrave?s da análise dos artigos observou-se que a Terapia Fotodina?mica (PDT), onde ha? a administração de um agente fotossensibilizador seguida pela ativac?a?o do mesmo pela luz resultando em uma seque?ncia de processos fotoqui?micos e fotobiolo?gicos, traz diversos benefi?cios na cli?nica odontolo?gica. Ale?m de ser um processo de baixo custo, oferece ao paciente protocolos eficientes e indolores, reduzindo os parâmetros clínicos e microbiológicos das bolsas periodontais e o tempo de reparac?a?o. Diversos estudos apontam que a terapia fotodina?mica desponta como uma nova terapia, que pode ter efeitos bene?ficos em diversas a?reas da odontologia: na endodontia auxilia na eliminac?a?o de micro-organismos persistentes ao preparo qui?mico-meca?nico, na periodontia durante a raspagem radicular, na denti?stica adequa o meio bucal promovendo a prevenc?a?o da ca?rie, na estomatologia auxiliando no tratamento de leso?es bucais e na implantodontia ajudando no processo de osseointegrac?a?o e prevenindo a peri-implantite. Dessa forma, concluiu-se que ha? efica?cia no uso da Terapia Fotodina?mica (PDT) e quando usada de forma correta, ou associada a tratamentos convencionais, trazem benefi?cios ao paciente reduzindo o tempo de tratamento e possi?veis efeitos colaterais.
