To fulfil the needs of the visually impaired, we have conceived the idea of designing a smart bracelet that enables them to navigate obstacles in their daily environment. For this purpose, we utilized an ultrasound sensor, a vibrator, an acoustic indicator device (buzzer), an Arduino Nano board, and connection cables. The electrical assembly was carried out simultaneously with the development of an operational algorithm, which was programmed within the Arduino environment. The functional verification of the prototype was conducted under rigorous and complex conditions to ensure trial reliability and provide an objective evaluation. The system yielded satisfactory results, with an average success rate of 76.8%. This takes into consideration the fact that the device was used for the first time by the participants, who were unfamiliar with the path and also experienced phobia due to blindfolding. We believe that the bracelet will be user-friendly for the visually impaired.
