Abstract

In this paper, analytical solutions for the free vibration analysis of functionally graded material symmetric and no-symmetric porous square sandwich plates are obtained using high order a shear deformation theory. Three-layer square sandwich plates with functionally graded skins at the top and bottom and an isotropic core in the middle are considered for the study. The material properties of the skins vary across the thickness according to the power law distribution. During manufacture of these plates, defects such as porosities can appear. This study investigates three different porosity distributions (H, X and V). Numerical analysis demonstrates how the material distribution, geometry, and porosity affect the free vibration responses of symmetric and no symmetric square FGM sandwich plates.
