Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effects of an injectable cosmetic active based on ozonised oil with a pressurised injection system in treating abdominal localised fat. A pilot clinical trial was conducted in two phases. Phase 1 included 2 participants who had localised fat. The treatment was performed with a pressurised intradermotherapy equipment, and two sessions were conducted with weekly intervals. One volunteer received a physiological solution, the other received the ozonised mixture, and one region was kept as control in both participants. The treatment area was 30 quadrants in size 4x4 cm. At each point, 0.1 ml was applied. One week after the last application, both participants underwent abdominoplasty surgery. Phase 2 had 43 participants (G1 - control and G2 - intervention), who followed the same previous protocol, but with four sessions. Evaluations were performed in three moments. The analyses showed increased fibroblasts and type 1 collagen production, with higher quality and 80% greater quantity than the control side. Degenerated adipocytes with irregular shapes, an inflammatory process indicating lipolysis, and the caspase3 marker were also found, demonstrating a second pathway of fat degeneration, apoptosis. There was a significant reduction in the values of plicometry, ultrasonography and the values obtained by the lipogram (p<0.05). The results showed positive results in abdominal adipose tissue, presenting a reduction of measures and the possibility of improvement of tissue flaccidity due to the increase of collagen in the skin.
