Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the cardiovascular effects of the extracts from the leaves of different species of Eugenia in rodents. This is an integrative review. The databases used were PUBMED, SCOPUS and LILACS, as well as the SciELO virtual library. Based on the inclusion criteria, 276 articles were first identified. After the reading full text and exclusion of repeated studies, 09 articles were included in this review.  In conclusion, the species of the Eugenia genus present various pharmacological properties on the cardiovascular system, such as hypotensive, vasodilator, anti-hypertensive and diuretic, mediated, depending on which species and the type of extract, through the opening of potassium channels, blocking of calcium channels, activation of β-adrenergic receptors, or through the muscarinic receptor/NO/GCs/cGMP pathway.
