Abstract

Ectodermal dysplasia is an inherited disorder characterized by developmental defects in ectodermal tissues, often affecting the hair, teeth, nails, and sweat glands. Concerning dental anomalies, individuals with ectodermal dysplasia may present with altered tooth morphology or absence of one or more teeth, with impairments in speech development, facial structure, and mastication, which have a considerable negative impact on their quality of life. Therefore, this study aimed to report a case of prosthetic rehabilitation on a five-year-old male patient diagnosed with ectodermal dysplasia. On clinical examination, teeth 53, 63, 73, and 83 were present and healthy. The panoramic radiograph revealed the probable presence of the dental germ corresponding to tooth 23. The parents were informed about their child’s oral condition, and rehabilitative treatment with maxillary and mandibular removable partial dentures was performed.  Proper knowledge of this condition and of the rehabilitation process may assist clinicians in the management of patients with ectodermal dysplasia.
