Dificuldades no diagnóstico de endometriose em adolescentes: uma revisão narrativa

A endometriose é uma doença crônica que afeta mulheres, incluindo adolescentes, e se caracteriza pela presença de tecido semelhante ao endometrial fora do útero. Os principais sintomas incluem dismenorreia, dor pélvica crônica, urgência miccional e hematúria, que afetam a qualidade de vida dessas jovens. Contudo, o diagnóstico em adolescentes é frequentemente atrasado, levando muitos anos até que a condição seja identificada e tratada adequadamente. Este estudo é uma revisão narrativa que busca identificar os desafios no diagnóstico de endometriose em adolescentes. Fatores que contribuem para o diagnóstico tardio incluem a semelhança dos sintomas com outras condições, a normalização da dor menstrual e o desconhecimento sobre a gravidade dos sintomas. A revisão destaca a necessidade de aumentar o conhecimento sobre endometriose entre profissionais de saúde e adolescentes, promovendo o diagnóstico precoce e reduzindo os impactos negativos na qualidade de vida das jovens. O estudo também enfatiza a importância de mais pesquisas sobre o tema para melhorar as estratégias de diagnóstico e tratamento. Neste estudo foram selecionados artigos da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde Brasil (BVS), PubMed e o UpToDate com idiomas em português, inglês e espanhol, a fim de sintetizar o conhecimento da literatura científica, sendo utilizada a estratégia PICo, em que (P) representa a população do estudo “adolescente”, (I) mostra o fenômeno de interesse “desafios no diagnóstico”, (Co) representa o contexto “endometriose”. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar os desafios no diagnóstico de endometriose em adolescentes.
