Condutas odontológicas para pacientes submetidos a quimioterapia e radioterapia: uma revisão de literatura

O presente estudo realiza uma revisão sistemática da literatura sobre práticas odontológicas para pacientes oncológicos submetidos a quimioterapia e radioterapia, abordando os principais desafios e métodos para minimizar complicações bucais, como mucosite, xerostomia e osteonecrose. Esses tratamentos, apesar dos efeitos contra o câncer, geram diversos efeitos adversos na cavidade oral que impactam a qualidade de vida dos pacientes. O objetivo é identificar e compilar condutas odontológicas baseadas em evidências para orientar o tratamento antes, durante e após as terapias oncológicas. A metodologia incluiu uma busca em bases de dados como LILACS, Web of Science, Scopus e PubMed, utilizando descritores como "odontologia em oncologia", "cuidados odontológicos em quimioterapia" e "cuidados odontológicos em radioterapia". Foram revisados artigos publicados nos últimos cinco anos, com foco em terapias complementares, como fotobiomodulação, e alternativas naturais para o manejo da mucosite oral. Os resultados sugerem que a integração do cirurgião-dentista na equipe multidisciplinar de cuidados oncológicos pode reduzir significativamente a morbidade associada às complicações bucais, contribuindo para uma abordagem mais humanizada e eficiente no cuidado ao paciente oncológico. Concluímos que a prática odontológica correta, atualizada e focada no paciente é essencial para o manejo adequado dos efeitos dos tratamentos oncológicos, promovendo melhorias na saúde bucal e na saúde bucal.
