Abstract

No presente estudo, foi explorado os impactos do tabagismo na osseointegração de implantes dentários. Entende-se que o tabagismo está associado a um maior risco de doenças periodontais e peri-implantares, a nicotina prejudicando a cicatrização e a estabilidade dos implantes. A importância da higiene oral adequada para a manutenção da saúde dos implantes também foi destacada. Embora os implantes não sejam contraindicados para pacientes tabagistas, o incentivo ao cessar do tabagismo é crucial para melhorar as chances de sucesso no tratamento. Protocolos de boas práticas de higiene oral são fundamentais para a manutenção da saúde dos implantes em pacientes tabagistas. Em resumo, embora seja necessário, o tabagismo não torna os implantes inviáveis, mas medidas preventivas e orientações são essenciais para um prognóstico satisfatório no tratamento.
