Abstract

A cavidade bucal tem íntima relação com o SARS-CoV-2 devido à alta concentração de receptores da enzima conversora de angiotensina 2, além de a infecção e suas terapias associadas contribuirem para a manifestação de alterações bucais em diferentes casos. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar uma revisão integrativa a respeito das possíveis alterações que o SARS-CoV-2 causa no sistema estomatognático. A metodologia utilizada foi a revisão integrativa da literatura, guiada pela questão de pesquisa desenvolvida pela estratégia PICO.

Os resultados mostraram que as principais alterações bucais associadas à COVID-19 são os distúrbios de paladar e de olfato, seguidos da xerostomia ou hipossalivação e das ulcerações. Diversas manifestações bucais foram observadas, porém, não há nível de evidência suficiente para determinar uma relação de causalidade com a infecção or SARS-CoV-2. É importante que os profissionais de saúde estejam atentos à disgeusia e hiposmia como primeiro sinal de COVID-19.
